iSimangaliso name change celebration

The name of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park changes tomorrow to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, as per the announcement by the Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism at Indaba in May this year. In order to celebrate this occasion, we have arranged an event with our neighbouring communities to celebrate the miracles and wonders of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

South Africa's first World Heritage Site, the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, will be renamed the iSimangaliso Wetland Park from November 2007 - a descriptive indigenous word that better reflects its unique identity.

The sanddune closing of the mouth for more than 4 years is now completely wiped away.
The equinox tidal, high seas and gale force winds (leftovers from the ongoing cyclones East from Madagascar) are creating unseen waterlevels flooding into the estuary.
